Psp 1001 Usb Charge Mod
I have 2 psp 3000 but I cannot get them to charge. I suspect it must be the ac charger I used went out. I can’t wait long enough to buy another one. Can I charge them through usb without having it on in settings or does anyone know how to make a charger? @sanghun It's a standard mini (type B) USB cable, you only need to go to settings. @sanghun On never mind, I just googled the mod you are talking about. Idealy you need something like 1.2 Amps to charge the PSP, but as I said, anything from 0.5 to 2 Amps will be fine, only the charging speed will be different. Because of point #2, I took a look at the power cord and decided on #4! PSP takes 5V at 1500mA to charge whereas a computer’s USB provides 5V at up to 500mA(USB 3.0 offers more amps, IIRC).
Homebrew:
Hombrew is a fancy word for 'PSP Applications.' (Yes I know it sounds like homemade coffee) Anyways with homebrew you can control your computer, use your PSP as a second monitor, use common IM clients, check your email, run emulators, you can run linux and windows 95 ( and mac ) with homebrew ! The list could go on for a couple of steps!
This is QJ.net They have lots of homebrew for many consoles. I encourage you to find an app at QJ or PSP-HACKS and come back, then I will show you how to install an app.
Now that you have found an app (and I have refilled my glass of iced tea :)) You need to extract the .rar or .zip archive. Then dig around and check out the readme (its way easier if you learn the controls firest !) after that we have to copy the directory containing EBOOT.PBP and a bunch of other files to our memory stick in the X:>PSP>GAME directory !
Now test out your homebrew app ! If you have any problems ASK in the COMMENTS then other people can learn from your problem or mistake !
NOTE: Some apps only work on the Phat, some only on the slim, and sometime they don't work at all !

CFW Enabler 3.50
PSP USB cable
Hacking a PlayStation Portable (PSP) with ChickHEN and custom firmware allows the user to run homebrew games downloaded from the internet. This also allows users to back up UMD discs as ISO/CSO images and download them directly to the memory stick. The ISO/CSO games can be played from the memory stick without the UMD inserted in the UMD Drive. Once the ISO/CSO image is created, the user can store the UMD original so that it doesn't get scratched or destroyed.

Connect the PSP to the computer via the USB cable. Open the PSP memory card and place the 'h.bin' file from the extracted ChickHEN file to the root directory. Open the 'SLIM' folder and drag the 'ChickHEN' folder to the PSP memory stick 'Photo' folder.
Disconnect the PSP from the computer and restart the PSP. Navigate to the 'Photo/Memory' menu. When the 'Options' menu appears, press 'X' to open the 'ChickHEN' folder. This should bring up flashing colors and the PSP will reboot into ChickHEN. Navigate to the 'Settings/System/System Information.' The 'System Software' should now be, '5.03 ChickHEN R2.'
Download and extract CFWEnabler350.zip files to the computer. Reconnect the PSP to the computer and place the CFWEnabler folder to the 'PSP/GAME' folder in the memory card. Disconnect from the computer and restart the PSP. Navigate to the 'Game/Memory/CFW Enabler.' When the CFW Enabler starts, select 'Install.' The PSP will reboot after installation and the firmware version should now be 5.00 M33-6. The PSP is now modded and ready to play homebrew and ISO/CSO games.
Warnings
Modifying the PSP without experience is not recommended. The wrong modification could cause damage to the PSP system and cause it to not run. Some damage can be irreversible. Proceed with caution. Installing ChickHEN can take several attempts. If the PSP is reset or has a hard reboot, it will reboot in the original firmware and ChickHEN will have to be reinstalled.
